The Academy's congratulations to Professor John Bligh, one of our founding members and our very first president on his Honorary Doctorate of Medicine from the Peninsula School of Medicine and Dentistry (pictured above, being presented the award by Professor Julian Chaudhuri, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Plymouth University).

Professor Hisham Khalil, Interim Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, said: “Professor John Bligh is, by common consent, one of the founding fathers of medical education research, and an academic whose vision has helped to shape the medical curriculum at the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry, its two succeeding medical schools, and undergraduate medical programmes around the world. Professor Bligh has helped to establish the professional standards that have led to a significant improvement of the standing and quality of medical education research, and the University was delighted to be able to recognise him for his outstanding achievements, and pay tribute to the legacy he has left for our region.”
