Getting to the Centre for Student Life, Cardiff

Cardiff is easy to reach whether you're travelling by public transport, by car or by air.

By air

To and from Cardiff Airport. 

To and from Bristol Airport

London AIrports.  Should you be arriving into the UK at a London airport you can find train and bus information for links to Cardiff. 

By rail

Cardiff Central Station is a 10-15 minute walk to the Centre for Student Life.  Cardiff Queen Street Station is a 5-10 minutes walk to the Centre for Student Life and Cathays Station is a 2 minute walk away.

By bus

Cardiff is well served within the city and from outside the city by bus. Cardiff Bus gives information on travel within the city. National bus services are run by National Express and Megabus

By car

From the south west, take the M5 and from the south of England, follow major A-roads to the M4.

From Scotland, the north of England and the Midlands, travel via the M50 to the M4.

Travelling East on the M4, leave the motorway at Junction 32, follow the A470, sign-posted city centre and University.

Travelling West on the M4, leave the motorway at Junction 29, follow the A48 (M)/A48, sign-posted Caridff East and the South. Exit the A48 at the Gabalfa Interchange, take the A470, sign-posted City Centre and the University. 

Park and Ride

Cardiff East park and ride can be found on the A48.  The bus drops and picks up at Dumfries Place, a 5 minute walk to the Centre for Student Life.  


Car parking around the university is limited and we recommend you allow plenty of time to park.  There are several car parks located close to the Centre for Student Life, including North Road car park and a multi-storey at Dumfries Place. In addition pay and display car parking is available on Park Place and around the civic centre (Museum Avenue, College Road, City Hall Road and King Edward VII Avenue). 


There is public street parking along Park Place, where blue badge holders can park free of charge.

Where to stay?  

The Centre for Student Life is a 10 minute walk from Cardiff's main train station and 5 minute walk from the city centre and it's many hotels.

What to do?

If you are staying longer or have accompanying family there is plenty to do within the city and a short distance away, e.g. visiting the grand Cardiff Castle, taking a walk through Bute Park Cardiff's green lung, taking a boat trip to Cardiff Bay.  You may also like to venture out of the city, where you can find the national park Brecon Beacons.
