Recognising Teaching Excellence Workshops

Recognising Teaching Excellence workshops are all about YOUR career and accomplishments as a medical educator. If you are a teacher, researcher or manager who is actively involved in the education of medical students and doctors, and if you care about improving your professional practice and developing your skills as a medical educator, then this course will offer you a constructive, confidential and structured environment in which to reflect on your portfolio of achievements and help prepare you to take the next steps in your career.

  • Help you reflect on your achievements and skills in medical education and plan your future career development;
  • Provide an opportunity for you to assemble and organise your evidence for appraisal and revalidation;
  • Encourage you to practise and learn new skills in professional writing, including how to write reflectively, and how to make assertive and realistic claims for your career accomplishments;
  • Offer new ways in which you can recognise, reflect on and articulate your professional values as a teacher, scholar and manager in medical education;
  • Develop your confidence in preparing an application for fellowship or membership of the Academy of Medical Educators; and
  • Help you craft your application ( you will get even more out of attending a workshop if you have made a start on drafting.

  • Standards and accreditation for medical education professionals;
  • Definitions of educational scholarship;
  • Reflective and descriptive approaches to professional writing;
  • Review of the six themes of the Professional Standards for Medical Educators;
  • The Academy of Medical Educators’ Recognition Scheme and, in particular, the distinctions made between “commitment”, “achievements” and “significant achievements” in medical education.

The course fee includes:
