Annual Academic Meeting

“Patient centredness...the heart of Medical Education"
26 +27 January 2011
London Marriott Grosvenor Square

The Annual Academic Meeting 2011 covered important topical issues and considers the importance of patient centredness as a concept at the heart of medical education. This meeting provided an excellent opportunity for members to present their own work and to join discussion forums focussing on new horizons, strategic and visionary issues and areas of special interest.

The meeting was the Academy’s largest to date with an increased programme size. It was open to anyone involved in, or interested in medical education. It provided an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues and to support CPD interest.

Key note speakers included:

Esther Rantzen CBE, Journalist and Broadcaster
Professor Sir Neil Douglas, Chairman, Academy of Medical Royal Colleges
Sir Donald Irvine, Chairman, Picker Institute Europe
Professor Trudie Roberts, Director of Leeds Institute of Medical Education, Chair ASME Council
Professor Anthony Weetman, Chair, Medical Schools Council

The Calman Lecture was given by Professor Karen Mann from Dalhousie University, Halifax, N.S. Canada
